Where are they now?

Note: There are NO SPOILERS in this post. The spoilers are all in the "comments" section.
Last week I had a business trip to D.C., which was a great timing for me since it gave me about 10 total airplane hours (first class) plus a bunch of hotel hours to read Harry Potter book 7. I have to say that while book 1 remains for me the funnest of the series, this one easily wins the contest for best HP book.
But after reading 7 volumes and over 4000 pages (8000 for those of us who have done so twice), it is a sad thing to see it end. It is especially hard to have to sit and ponder "I wonder what <<insert character name here>> did with his/her/its life." I know, some of you are yelling through your PC at me (Dale) that they are fictional characters, so they did nothing, or they did whatever I want to imagine they did. But for those of you like me, this is not good enough. It is for those like me that I have a bit of good news. Yesterday, a bunch of people like us got JK Rowling to do a web chat, and share her feelings about what happened to some of the characters later in life. No joke.
So please click on "comments" below find out what she said, and also to join me in some Pottertalk (again, I already admitted I'm a nerd.)

Here is what JK Rowling said happened to a few of the main characters:

Harry:
Harry Potter, who always voiced a desire to become an Auror, or someone who fights dark wizards, was named head of the Auror Department under the new wizarding government headed by his friend and ally, Kingsley Shacklebolt.

Ginny:
Harry's wife, Ginny Weasley, stuck with her athletic career, playing for the Holyhead Harpies, the all-female Quidditch team. Eventually, Ginny left the team to raise their three children -- James, Albus and Lily -- while writing as the senior Quidditch correspondent for the wizarding newspaper, the Daily Prophet.

Ron:
Ron Weasley joined his brother, George, as a partner at their successful joke shop, Weasley's Wizard Wheezes.

Hermione:
Hermione Granger, Ron's wife, furthered the rights of subjugated creatures, such as house elves, in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures before joining the magical law enforcement squad. The couple had two children -- Rose and Hugo.

Luna:
Luna Lovegood becomes a famous wizarding naturalist who eventually marries the grandson of Newt Scamander, author of "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."

And what Muggle, or non-wizard, song would have been played at the funeral of Albus Dumbledore, the most brilliant and talented wizard the world had ever known?
"Surely 'I Did It My Way' by Frank Sinatra".

I was hoping she would mention something about what they were doing in the Epilogue. I'm a nerd that way, too.

How did you get on the chat? How come I was not previously informed? I love HP! I'm going to start no.7 after repainting the hall bath/girls' rooms. Glad you loved the HD's (that's what Daley calls them too)

I wasn't on the chat, but I read the writeup about it later.

Okay, now that I finished the book last night I was able to read the comment section here. Not too much past the insights provided in the epilogue but some insights... I would like to know more about some of the characters beyond the main ones, i.e. Who did Draco end up marrying/doing? Did Harry give him his wand back after repairing his own? Did Luna and Neville hook up? What about further out that 20 years? Does Harry ever become Headmaster? or Minister of Magic? So many loose ends... Did Gringots sieze Harry's assets left in his vault to pay for the break-in? Did Harry ever free Kreature? And Sinatra? Really? Now that is just a grown woman with a childhood crush! OK, I'll stop ranting, all-in-all, predictable but satisfying ending and epilogue...

I'll admit, I was kind of furious with Jo for saying only what Neville did in the epilouge. I mean, as much as I love Neville, I REALLY wanted to know what everyone else did too! I did have fun imagining what everyone was doing (Luna and Neville ARE a couple in my book, I don't care what ANYONE says, not even Jo) but I needed more closure. I was thrilled when she had all those press releases! I hope that she continues to answer questions (like, is Harry living in Godric's Hollow or Grimauld Place these days?)

(Oh, by the way, I'm Ginny Romney, Cori Griffith's daughter and Kaitlyn and Ellisha's friend. I hope you don't mind my two cents =>)
